What's a degree for?

Why do we pursue university degrees? The cultivation of career skills? Credentials to launch us onto the job market?

Octet is inviting Peter Q. Blair, Associate Professor of Education at the Harvard GSE, whose research specialty is the economics of education and work. He’ll lecture on the complexities of the economics in question, and why we need an understanding of the university that extends beyond a credential factory.

Dr. Blair holds a Ph.D. in applied economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Sc. in theoretical physics from Harvard University.
